MAY WANTING MORE FROM MONMORE! - UPDATE

Sunday July 08, 2018
The 'Cases' Somerset Rebels head to Wolverhampton on Monday night in what will be their only team action of the week, following the decision to postpone their scheduled home fixture this Wednesday.

Sitting second in the revised SGB Premiership table the Rebels are presently a point clear of hosts Wolves and team manager Garry May knows he will have to break his Monmore Green voodoo if they are to add to their league account.
"As a team manager, and therefore the only constant, I haven't seen a lot of Somerset success here up in the Black Country in the past. My team hasn't been able to hit the forty point mark even so I am hoping that we can turn that around this visit. We have of course seen team changes since our 38-52 defeat there in May and Wolves have shown some vulnerability at home since our last visit so we will be going there in a positive frame of mind."

It will be a club debut for Aaron Summers who was snapped up at the weekend after the demise of Rye House and the Australian steps into the side as a direct replacement for Claus Vissing who had managed just 1 point (paid 2) in his recent seven ride stint as a Rebel.

May added "We will need Aaron to hit the ground running for us, I know that puts added pressure on him but this match will mark the halfway stage in our league programme and so we need to try and consolidate our play-off position to ensure we are in the mix at the real business end of the season. "

Wolves will be without two former Somerset riders due to injury, with rider replacement covering for Kyle Howarth and Mark Riss guesting for Cameron Heeps who was been stood down for a nine day period following a concussion injury sustained at Sheffield last Thursday.

Teams:
Wolverhampton: Jacob Thorssell, Ashley Morris, R/R for Kyle Howarth, Rory Schlein (capt), Sam Masters, Mark Riss (Guest), Nathan Greaves. Team manager Peter Adams
Somerset: Jason Doyle (capt), Bradley Wilson-Dean, Aaron Summers, Richard Lawson, Jack Holder, Jake Allen, Nico Covatti. Team manager Garry May
