SUMMERS BREEZES IN

Saturday July 07, 2018
The 'Cases' Somerset Rebels are hopeful that the hot summer continues as they have tweaked their side further, bringing in Aussie Aaron Summers as a replacement for out of form Claus Vissing.

30 year old South Australian Summers became available after Rye House closed their doors and the Adelaide-born rider soon hit Garry May's radar.

"I have been looking at his results and he has been doing well in the Championship and has gained valuable Premiership experience. I believe he is the sort of rider that will add an extra dimension to us especially on the away tracks and with Claus (Vissing) not quite having 'hit the ground running' during his short spell with us, I just felt it was too good an opportunity to miss."

Summers comes into the Rebels seven in time for their trip to Wolverhampton on Monday night, slotting in on his 5.21 average that he established with the Rye House Rockets from 10 meetings.

The Rebels lost one point from their league record when the Rye House results were expunged from the SGB Premiership table and they go into Monday's meeting at Wolves sitting second, a point ahead of their hosts, having ridden one meeting more.

May added "We need to concentrate on cementing our place in the play-offs and although Monmore Green has not been a happy venue for Rebels' teams in the past, we have to go there with the intent on trying to secure at least the consolation point to keep the pressure on at the top."
