REBELS MIXING IT UP FOR VISIT OF LEADERS

Tuesday June 12, 2018
Speedway action returns to the Oak Tree Arena on Wednesday as world champion Jason Doyle leads his 'Cases' Rebels against current league leaders Wolverhampton.

Since last winning at the Highbridge circuit three weeks ago, the play-off placed Rebels have picked up valuable league points at King's Lynn with a last gasp 5-1 from their Wizards of Oz Doyle and Jack Holder.

In a switched line-up for Wednesday, team manager Garry May has brought that pair together for heat 13 as Holder and Richard Lawson change places.

May explained the move saying "we need to get more out of Richard as I don't think he has been going as well as he can and this is something we spoke about. Jack questioned whether he was ready for such a move but the way he has been going this year has been exceptional. I think we tend to forget this is only his second top flight British season and this experiment will give him extra experience and also help Richard rediscover his form."

Lawson was involved in a tough British final, none more so than when he went up against Kyle Howarth, one of Wednesday's opponents, in heat 17, a race that Howarth eventually won to earn a place in the semi-finals.

A further change of riding order takes effect for the Rebels on Wednesday as the June averages see Jake Allen drop to reserve with Bradley Wilson-Dean going in the opposite direction.

The Rebels currently remain unbeaten at the Oak Tree this season but Wolverhampton are sure to provide stern opposition with strength in depth ranging from number one Jacob Thorssell, former Rebels Howarth, Sam Masters and Cameron Heeps and through to the league's form guy Rory Schlein.
Wednesday's meeting will be the first of three home matches in the space of 12 days for the Rebels as Poole visit on June 20th before newly-crowned British Champion Robert Lambert brings his King's Lynn Stars to town on Monday 25th.

Wednesday's teams

Wolverhampton: Jacob Thorssell; Ashley Morris; Kyle Howarth; Sam Masters; Rory Schlein; Cameron Heeps; Nathan Greaves Team manager Peter Adams.
